We knew it was coming.  Today, Yahoo Search Marketing announced their “search alliance”  with Microsoft.

What’s that mean?

Well… I’ve been using Yahoo Search Marketing for several months now, and find that the cost of an identical campaign that I had running at AdWords was half the price. And, for whatever reason, my optins doubled. I didn’t change the page… I changed the advertiser. So, in that respect, it’s been working very well for me.

My switch to Yahoo came on the heels of watching Frank Kern and Trey Smith’s “Screw Google” course, which I think is totally apropos. Why not? They think nothing of screwing us all the time. And almost anything works better for PPC when it comes to Internet marketing these days. continue reading »

Do you Squidoo? And if you do… Are you a marketer doing Squidoo? If so, you need to know that Squidoo has decided that they don’t like marketers. At least, that’s how it seems to me.

Here’s an email I got yesterday:

Dear Squidoo lensmaster:

During the Summer of 2009 we publicly updated our anti-spam policies to disallow the creation and hosting of certain topics on our site.

==WHY THIS EMAIL?==

You’re getting this email because one or more of your lenses have been determined to be on these SquidDon’t topics. We’re sure you’re a goodguy and doing no harm! But alas, such categories have demonstrated such an overwhelming attraction to spammers or tricksters that we’re not able to support lenses on them at all–even if the quality of the lens is high.

Un-frickin’-believable.

The lenses in question were both Overcome Everything lenses, and they’re just solid content. One is all about list building. It has articles, videos, and I don’t even think there’s a link back to the ListBuilding Club on that lens. The videos have the link in them. But there’s absolutely NOTHING spammy. You can judge for yourself:  http://www.squidoo.com/listbuildingwarrior continue reading »

Remember November when everyone was worried about the FTC changes that took effect on December 1? WEll…

Just a few hours ago, new crackdowns came without warning. This time the issue involves Mastercard, and in a nutshell, FORCED continuity is dead. Apparently, from what I could glean from what Ryan Lee and Tim Kerber put out, people are pissed about paying for stuff they never bought. We all know that people don’t read. It can say in big, bold letters that they’re getting a trial membership in a site, but the ongoing payments will be $47 a month or whatever.  Then, when the bill comes, they say they never bought membership and that we online bad guys are ripping them off. continue reading »

I don’t know Ben Mack very well, though we did spend some “group” time at a conference in LA awhile back. I found him to be highly, highly intelligent and someone that is full of mystery and interesting thoughts and information.

Ken McArthur wrote about him a while back, wondering why Ben wasn’t clearly communicating.

My take is that it’s not that Ben tries to be “superior” or “cloudy,” or anything like that. He’s just Ben, and that’s how he thinks and he communicated on a much higher level than most “regular” people.

So?

It’s not Ben as much as it is everyone else. He scares them. Hell, he scares me a little because he’s so frickin’ smart. And he’s a magician. I’ve seen him perform tricks about two feet away, and well…  You can’t trust magicians, right? LOL

But here’s an interview with Dave Lakhani, the master of persuasion, talking about Ben and why he’s the way he is.

And he should absolutely stay that way. :-)
