Did you see TechCrunch’s tweet yesterday about social traffic overpowering search traffic?
Report: Pinterest Beats Yahoo Organic Traffic, Making It 4th Largest Traffic Driver Worldwide tcrn.ch/UuzFq9 by @sarahintampa

Not good for Yahoo, of course. It’s continuing in its downward spiral. But it’s awesome for Pinterest. Last week, I read an article that said how Pinterest’s popularity was declining after its initial surge. Hmm…. Doesn’t seem to be so. Social traffic is on the rise, and you need to know it.
I’ve written this before: Pinterest is just fun — lots of fun. You can paste anything there you want, and have it organized into “boards.” You can follow all of someone’s boards or just those you’re interested in. So, if you’re not on Pinterest, just go and check it out. Apparently, it’s driving social traffic, too. (Knew that.)
I’ve also tried LoveIt. It’s the same as Pinterest, but one cool feature that Pinterest doesn’t have is that you can import your pins from Pinterest into LoveIt. I advise you to do it one board at a time; however, or all of the pins in your account will flood your LoveIt friends’ categories. Not good to hog up all the space, and mea culpa to my LoveIt friends.
But… By importing my pins, I did get me a LoveIt T-Shirt, which I found out yesterday, so it’s all good. They’re giving those away on a limited basis, so don’t expect it, but you just never know. LoveIt is still pretty new.
I’ve also noticed some social traffic games that help you to get traffic, and have been meaning to check them out. One is called “Sitizens” and it’s from my old friends Tim Linden, Jon Olson and a team of other smart folks. I noticed the site in my traffic list in Analytics and was pleasantly surprised to see this fun new site.
Today, I had a little time to kill and signed up. It’s free to use, and it has to do with visiting different sites on the Web, as in “social traffic.” Each time you visit a site, you get credits for doing so, called “Zens.” But you can also collect rubies and well… I still have to figure things out, but it looks like a lot of fun. You can check it out at http://Sitizens.com
Enjoy your weekend. I’m off to see what Sitizens is all about!
