Google+ : Are You with It?

Remember a few weeks ago when I wrote about Google +, telling you how important it would be to search? Well… I’m right. Of course, I’m certainly not the only one saying so, and today I read a really good article about how Google+ is affecting your search presence and your page rank with Google.

Sure, Google has come out with Buzz and Wave and things that haven’t worked out very well, it’s true. But have you been to Google+ yet? If not, just drop me a line here, and I’ll happily invite you. But it’s fun.

Google+ lacks the noise of Twitter. You don’t need a side app to separate your friends from your business acquaintances or people that you may not even know. I love that! I mean, your news stream is still eveyone in your “circles,” but you can send messages to select groups, without offending anyone.

For example, over at Facebook, I’ve had family members tell me that they turned off my updates because I post so much about SEO, and most of them don’t even know what that is. I’m not offended, but it has always bothered me that I can’t choose who I send what messages to. I can at Google+. When I’m sending a business message, I just don’t include my family circle. Simple!

And I’m not sure if you like online games, but they have some fun stuff going on over at Google +, too, and you can play with your friends. The Texas Hold ‘em poker tables are a blast! But they have other games, some silly, and some mucho popular, like Angry Birds. I really don’t get the attraction there, but hey… it’s there if you want to play it.

But more importantly, there are “hangouts,” where you can connect with people of like mind. So, you can organize a hangout for business pals or just your family, and Google is watching your activity. They want Google+ to succeed, so they’re tying the results to search.

If you’re on Google+ spend some time there. If you’re not, get on and get with it. It can mean the difference between some and lots of that free search traffic we all want to enjoy.

And if you want to be a pal, be sure to +1 this and/or any of my articles here, it will mean a lot. :)
