I’m really glad that I have a blog for several reasons. Want to know what they are? Well… I’m going to tell you anyway.
- This blog helps me to communicate with you regularly. People visit here because they find me on Google just because I have written about something they’re interested to know more about, and I really don’t do anything special for that to happen. I know, I know… SEO and all. I write about SEO topics. I don’t do an hour of keyword research before each post. The rankings just naturally occur because I write about my niche. So don’t think you have to perform some SEO voodoo to make things work. Just provide quality content on a regular basis and it will happen.
- You get free stuff. People are always writing to me and asking me to check out their software or their website and offer pro accounts and stuff. Sometimes, I take them up on their offers, and sometimes I just can’t because I don’t have the time. But I appreciate it. And then, sometimes, Google just sends you a computer. That’s awesome enough, eh?
- You get book deal offers. I just heard from a major major publisher today that wants me to outline a book for them. I mean, it’s not a done deal by any stretch and I may end up walking away, too. Just don’t know at this point. We’re working things out. But, that happened because an editor Googled a term that I’ve used here. I actually wrote 4 books for an editor who found my writing blog a long time ago, so I do have some solid experience that will show you this works.
So, those are three very cool things that can happen to you just from writing in a blog. When you first start off, you probably think that no one is paying attention.
Guess what? No one is.
But over time, if you’re consistent and give people what they’re looking for, be it gardening advice, technical help, or just being your own crazy self (ever heard of “Couch Surfing Ori”?), you can be successful at blogging.
I have a new book about blogging that just came out today at Amazon called “The Step-by-Step Guide to Blogging,” too. It’s a total “how-to” set everything up and what to do book that will knock your socks off.
So, never even think that blogging is a waste of time.
It’s the BOMB!
