Google: How Does It Work?

Search engines all work in a similar fashion. The spiders go out and scan your pages, and decide what they’re about. Then, they send them back to the mother ship and that’s where indexing comes in. Learn exactly what happens at Google:

Cool, eh? I thought that it was a very clear, clean description that folks that are just starting out wonder about. So… there you have it.

Also, I forgot to edit my permalink yesterday after doing my post, and apparently had something in there about privacy policies. Good catch, Gregory Collins, Mr. Tweet Success, Google will give you a better ranking if you have one, especially if it’s done right. I picked this up from Anik Singal’s post yesterday on his Affiliate Classroom blog.

That was a cool explanation, but even cooler, Anik gives you a link to the Better Business Bureau’s generic privacy policy that you can copy and customize to meet your needs. You’ll see that I’ve done that on this blog. So, go to: http://www.bbbonline.org/privacy/sample_privacy.asp and be sure to use it on all your pages. It makes an SEO difference, no bout a doubt it. I mean, I knew that, and I had a simple privacy statement, but this policy really lays things out, and I know Google will like it MUCH better.

Go get it!
