SEO: Google and AdSense Scraper Sites
Finally… Google is doing something to discourage AdSense scraper sites. I hate them, too. They deliver no value, they steal other people’s content to populate their blogs, and they expect we legitimate bloggers to sit still for it.
I get “comments” from scraper sites all the time… Nuked! Never seen here… Don’t waste your time.
Why should I spend my half hour every day, preparing content for AdSense scraper sites to reap reward?
Well, it seems now that Google is adding something worth mentioning to the mix. There appears to be a 7-day delay for scraper pages to appear in Google’s index. Yay! They shouldn’t appear at all, so that makes me smile.
But it’s also happening to WordPress blogs with SEO plugins. Axandra of SEO software IBP 10, mentions this in their weekly newsletter:
“It looks as if the 7 day delay might be related to two different website types: websites that use server scripts that return different pages to different user agents and websites that contain little or no unique content.
“The 7 day delay for blogs that display the content both on the blog index page and the blog posting page is not a penalty but a Google feature that prevents duplicate results.”
So, in other words, since your blog’s homepage is already indexed, they wait 7 days to index the actual post page because it’s duplicate content. Using the “more” tag on your posts so that only a portion of them appears on the home page helps some, but wondering if at all. Think I’ll monitor that and see.
Axandra also advises:
“If your website is a Made-For-AdSense scraper website then it’s probably time to think about a new business model. Google might give these websites lower rankings in the future.”
That’s great art to my eyes. It’s about time that those bullshit sites are thrown to the wolves. Sorry, if you have one, and don’t know any better. That happens a lot.
Now, you do. So, stop it!

Hi Pat,
I couldn't of said it better myself!
What really irks me is sometimes a “scraper” site will show up in the search results with my content, in a higher position than me. It does usually drop down, but it just sucks to some
content thief making anything from my content.
And I'm with you totally on the number of comments from scrapper sites. They are unbelievable. Like I, or anyone else would give them any credit. Are they nutz?!!
So it frustrates me all to hell as I have to spend time deleting their spam. But then I just go on as if it never happened, because I really love creating new content.
Some of the scrappers ought to give it a try.

Love that attitude, Wayne!
The sad part is that many of them don't understand that it's wrong.

It's good that finally Google is doing something to discourage AdSense scraper sites
Yeah… I agree. They're totally obnoxious and duplicate content on them isn't even presented properly. Irks me when someone uses my stuff that way. You, too?
